I'm hosting a casual, last-minute creator challenge walk for photographers, videographers, and content creators today, June 27th, 2026.
We’ll walk around Portland, practicing creating content that could be used for a real brand: social media, websites, ads, etc.
The Challenge:
• Find some local businesses/locations
• Create a collection of images and video clips to put together that can tell a story
• Focus on storytelling, lighting, and branding
All skill levels welcome. Bring your creativity & any camera (your phone counts)
We'll be meeting at 1001 NW 13th Ave, Portland, OR 97209, United States, aka the Safeway on NW 13th & Lovejoy.
If you are interested, please send me a DM on Facebook, so I have a rough idea of how many will be there and who might be coming.

We'll be at the location for 15 minutes after 12:00 pm before we set out on the walk. If you make it there after that time, send me a DM, and I can send you where the walk is currently at in our walk.

I think, even though it turned out to be a solo challenge, I think not enough people had a heads up. 😅 Which, for the next time, I'll give much more of a heads up, so that gives people time to prepare, schedule, and plan for it. The experience itself was still beneficial for me, as it got me out shooting and thinking more deeply about my Photography while shooting and trying to look for stories.

But it gave me an idea… What if you were to post a “virtual challenge” that everyone could participate in no matter where they are. Could be cool - I thought of that because since people on the Big Photo Hunt are so spread out it may be tough to get enough people together in just PDX. Just an idea but it seems interesting to me!
Would love to hear what you think. If it's interesting, I can enable photos to be added to replies here so people could reply with their work.

It helps get the community engaged, and also share photos that they may not otherwise share too. I think it would be lots of fun, too give a weekly photo challenge. I'll work up one to come up for the beginning of next week, if you'd like Ken.
