Great idea is shall see what i come up with stand by.....
Posted by Hayley Flint-ahern on the Big Photo Hunt community board.
This image was a challenge. To shoot and then in editing. Fellow big photo hunter @Norman Dean pointed out some interesting elements in the editing that he rightly thought could be improved.
I really appreciate any feedback and advice from the BPH Community it’s such a positive experience as I am very much without a photography community in real life.
I actually feel the raw image is better than the edit I entered this week, I actually processed this years ago so I’m super excited to be prompted to look back beyond those old edits and at the raw images.
So thinking constructively I’ve found the raw image and in the interest of creative challenge I’d love to see how you would edit this image.
Also big thanks to @Ken Deckinger for adding the photo comment, I’m super intrigued to see if anyone feels inspired and creates something fun.

How do I go about getting the Raw file? Thanks 👍
Lee Churchill
Hi I really like your image I hope you don’t mind, I used a screen grab so was limited to what I was working with but essentially adjusted the exposure and tweaked the blacks whites and clarity slightly to bring out some contrast and to bring out the attention on the subject then a slight vignette to isolate the subject against the brighter parts of the background I then used a warming of the colour temp and a boost slightly with vibrancy and saturation with finally a slight crop from the right to remove a little of the tree so again more focus on the bird, hope you like the edit thanks for sharing
Nate Riggins
Overall, it's just way too dark.

My take is basically the same thoughts as @[Lee Churchill](0f1c77d6-bdd1-4129-944e-500e5a1d3791) but with some exaggeration and bluer white balance. Also taken from a screen grab.

Thank you all for your replies and the edits made are super nice I really like them both.
@Lee Churchill @[Stefan Crysell](57733804-2684-4cfd-82d2-df7dcc95b6f5) Re: getting the raw image, the image in the initial post is raw, I wonder if you bring up the image full screen and hold down for a second on it you may be able to save it to your images. It’s already a super grainy way too dark image aa rightfully noted by @Nate Riggins This was taken years ago and edited around the same time, I believe around 6/7 years ago I would have been 21/22. Was a stretch to even get this shot so settled for the too dark too grainy and i guess I just wanted to see if anyone more experienced could do any better than I had. This image attached is the edit I made back then and entered recently.
I also have a personal aversion to light things, bright colour and lean more toward the darker cooler side of colour palettes when shooting and editing. Can mean I unintentionally leave images too dark. Working on this!
Again cheers for participating in my experiment I guess!

As per the others, I used a screen grab.
Here I have increased the exposure and contrast, desaturated the back ground a little

Hi gang! A quick note to let you know that I'm working through how to enable RAW photos to be shared. Will update you once I've got more info and/or a plan. :-)

@[Lee Churchill](0f1c77d6-bdd1-4129-944e-500e5a1d3791) I like your edits and the thoughts behind them. For me, the narrower crop is especially effective.
Hayley Flint-ahern
Actually not totally sure how you would get the actual file, it doesn’t work to hold down and save to images as I had assumed @[Ken Deckinger](c3048578-7544-410e-a042-d00e6ec6333e) do you have magical wizard knowledge you can bestow upon us we are conducting an experiment 🧪

@[Hayley Flint-ahern](82d0a8ab-3fa2-47f0-b8e7-69dc32871621) I tend to darker/bluer images too. These are the stylistic differences that matter the most. If the goal is to exactly duplicate the real world - then how boring is that.

@[Hayley Flint-ahern](82d0a8ab-3fa2-47f0-b8e7-69dc32871621) hi! Do you mean that you want to upload the original RAW file here? Lemme know if that's what you mean, so that I understand where you're stuck. Thanks! :-)

@[Nisah Cheatham](cf53a09d-1eb6-45e0-b529-06e3bf21aaf4) I like how the blue highlights and compliments the green of the parrot, it really makes the bird stand out.

I really like this for that quality it feels pop art Warhol vibes and makes something extra out of an average as heck photo! Love this @[Nisah Cheatham](cf53a09d-1eb6-45e0-b529-06e3bf21aaf4)

@[Stefan Crysell](57733804-2684-4cfd-82d2-df7dcc95b6f5) I can’t stop looking at this I really like this it’s just transformed the sense of depth instead of the flatness it had before
Stefan Crysell
@[Hayley Flint-ahern](82d0a8ab-3fa2-47f0-b8e7-69dc32871621) brilliant glad you like it! I feel I could have been a bit more strict with the Tree shadows etc but overall like it and had fun! So thanks 😊
Hayley Flint-ahern
@[Stefan Crysell](57733804-2684-4cfd-82d2-df7dcc95b6f5) 10/10 no notes I love the depth of the shadow I’m glad you didn’t restrain it the tree isn’t there to be seen so using it as the shadow even more makes so much sense. I’m glad you enjoyed the challenge was an awful one to try and make something of you’ve smashed it!
