Hi who of you has on going projects or are you looking to start a new project? What is your final finished work is it a book or maybe an exhibition?

As a hobbyist, I use the term project to help direct or guide outings when I'm feeling in a slump. As such, until I can see that they are close to completion, they'll never be finished 🫣🤦♂️🤣
Currently: Bridgehouses and/or Bridges of Chicago, something I'm calling Hopperesque, and something I'm loosely defining as Underbelly of Chicago (alleys, corners, out of the public eye places).
I am about to complete a set of shots to go with a poem that my brother-in-law wrote during a visit to Montana after my mom passed. I just haven't finalized the layout. It will be an ebook with shoots from a hike we took and shoots from my mom's property arranged with the wonderful poem he wrote.

Hey Lee - Great post. I don't have a project per se but this summer I'm working on putting together a beach scene collection. Grabbing scenes from beaches in New England like Cape Cod, Maine, etc.

I would love to do a project. But I feel like I'm a dog seeing a squirrel. I can't focus on a single theme! How do I change that?

I decided at the beginning of 2025 that I wanted to do a 4-year zine project. 1 zine a year, observational and documentary. While there's so much churn in the US, I wanted something to let people destress and ground themselves by reminding them that life is still happening.
The 2025 zine is published and in the books. I had a vision and created something according to that vision. Although I liked the results, I found that the vision was a little too confining, so I am going to open it up to be more creative and free-form this year. Too structured and it turns into work, and I really do this for fun. I do have a general structure that I use when deciding where/what to shoot that day, but I treat it as guidelines. AI and I chat about it all the time, lol.

My personal project is doing some street photography, astro photography, glamour, and baseball. I was thinking of doing some nature photography, but I suck at it.

@[Mark Gladding](b1ebb5df-87f0-41d0-bfb1-f5d6da1af0f4) yeah a project should be enjoyable and not a chore unless it’s a paid job, how do you distribute the zine once you’ve made them ?
Ken Deckinger
Thanks! Hopefully I'll have some cool shots to share at the end of the summer!
