I'm kind of a hack when it comes to macro photography. here are six close-up shots; I don't think any of them are true macro (i.e. 1:1 reproduction on the camera's sensor) but a few of them are close. post your macro/close-up shots here and tell me what they are.
1. a recently transitioned red eyed tree frog 2. a recently transitioned milk frog 3. some ants harassing some sort of beetle, who already looked a bit beat up 4. a leaf mimicking katydid 5. a rhinoceros katydid, a predatory species with a powerful bite (ask me how I know), feeding on a recently transitioned masked tree frog 6. a very colorful species of roach you can see in the rain forest

I do a lot of macro with my telephoto lenses, so my next lens will likely be the OM 90mm f/3.5 PRO macro.
I have plenty of pollinators, dragonflies, and tree frogs pics to go around, however these three shots are some of my favorites.
1) Hoverfly on rose spirea
2) Western Trillium after color bleed
3) Meadowhawk on blackberry

This is just some of my macro work it’s one of my main focuses of photography for me. The more extreme depth of focus in macro and detail that isn’t so clearly visible to the human eye just brings me such satisfaction. Love seeing everyone’s work this is a great thread thanks for posting!

I'm never really done well with full 1:1 or greater reproduction. I owned the famed Sony 90mm f/2.8 macro for over 8 years and here are the only three shots that I really like that are at least close-ups. I have tons of other "almost close-ups" that I like which made me realize, while I like looking at other people's macro photography, I just wasn't interested in shooting it myself.

great shot of the D4s. I had that 200-500 zoom when I was shooting with my D850 and D750. what a great lens, especially for the price.

@[Mike Canzoneri](70c3b417-7591-4e81-82a0-eeecb8d78000) thanks! The 90mm seems like a good fit. It’s supposedly lighter than other lenses I’m used to which makes it great for my dog walks. I’ve been humoring the idea of throwing the 2x TC on it so I can continue to do wildlife at 360mm equivalent while also being able to look into a spider’s soul with even more magnification
